Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of MyBudget. By downloading or using the App you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
1. Description of Service
MyBudget is a personal finance tool that helps you track expenses, scan receipts, manage budgets, split bills, and gain insight into your spending habits. The App is provided for personal, non-commercial use. It is designed primarily for South African users and displays amounts in South African Rand (ZAR).
2. Eligibility
- You must be at least 18 years old to use the App.
- You must have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement in your jurisdiction.
- By using the App, you confirm that you meet these requirements.
3. Account Registration and Guest Mode
You may use the App in two ways:
- Guest mode: no account is required. All data is stored locally on your device. Cloud sync, household sharing, and some advanced features are not available in guest mode.
- Registered account: create an account with your email address or Sign in with Apple. Cloud sync is enabled and your data is backed up securely.
If you register an account, you are responsible for:
- Maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials.
- All activity that occurs under your account.
- Notifying us immediately at support-budget.app@logicalsolutionsinnovations.com if you believe your account has been compromised.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the App for illegal purposes or in violation of South African law.
- Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or tamper with the App.
- Upload content that contains malware, viruses, or harmful code.
- Use the App to transmit spam, unsolicited communications, or fraudulent payment requests.
- Misrepresent your identity or impersonate another person when using shared household features.
- Attempt to access another user's data without their permission.
- Use automated scripts or bots to interact with the App.
5. Receipt Scanning, User-Uploaded Content, and AI
The receipt scanning feature lets you photograph receipts. These photos are user-generated content ("UGC") uploaded by you to our service.
- Your responsibility: you must only upload photos that you own or have the right to share. Do not upload receipts or images that contain another person's sensitive personal information without their consent.
- AI provider: receipt images are processed by the Google Gemini API (paid tier). By using receipt scanning you consent to your photo being transmitted to Google for extraction. Google is contractually bound to use your image only to return extraction results and does not train models on paid-tier API data.
- No accuracy guarantee: AI extraction is best-effort. Always review extracted line items before saving. Do not use AI-extracted data for official financial records or tax submissions without independent verification.
- Free accounts are limited to 30 AI-powered receipt scans per day.
6. DMCA — Copyright and Takedown Policy
We respect intellectual property rights and expect users to do the same. If you believe that content uploaded through the App infringes your copyright, you may submit a DMCA takedown request to our designated copyright agent:

A valid DMCA notice must include: (a) your contact details; (b) identification of the copyrighted work; (c) identification of the infringing material and its location in the App; (d) a good-faith belief statement; (e) a statement of accuracy and authority under penalty of perjury; and (f) your physical or electronic signature.
We will process valid notices promptly and remove or disable access to the infringing material. Counter-notices may be submitted to the same address. Repeat infringers will have their accounts terminated.
7. Shared Space (Household) Feature
The Shared Space feature allows multiple users to track joint expenses within a shared household.
- You are responsible for the accuracy of any transactions you add to a shared household.
- Settlement confirmations within the App are acknowledgements between users and do not constitute legally enforceable agreements or contracts.
- Each user is responsible for their own obligations when settling debts recorded in the App.
8. Free Tier and Service Limits
MyBudget is currently offered at no cost. We reserve the right to:
- Adjust usage limits (including AI scan limits) at any time.
- Introduce paid tiers for premium features in the future, with reasonable advance notice.
- Discontinue features or the App itself with reasonable notice.
9. Intellectual Property
All intellectual property in the App — including design, code, branding, and trademarks — belongs to Logical Solutions & Innovations. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the App for personal purposes only.
You retain full ownership of the financial data you enter into the App. We do not claim any rights over your personal transaction records.
10. Privacy, Data, and Anonymised Dataset Licensing
Your use of the App is also governed by our Privacy Policy and Data & Permissions pages, which form part of these Terms.
If you opt in to data collection in Settings > Data & Privacy, you consent to our anonymization, indefinite retention, and possible sale or licensing of aggregated, fully-anonymized receipt data (including de-identified or blurred receipt images) to third parties, as described in the Privacy Policy. This data contains no personal identifiers and cannot be re-linked to you. Anonymized store/item/price observations may also be shared to power price-trend features for other users. You may withdraw consent at any time in Settings > Data & Privacy; withdrawal applies to future data only.

12. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by South African law, Logical Solutions & Innovations is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App, including but not limited to:
- Loss of financial data.
- Errors in receipt extraction or AI processing.
- Financial loss resulting from decisions made based on App data.
- Service interruptions or data sync failures.
13. Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms or if your use poses a risk to other users or to the service. You may delete your account at any time from Settings > Profile > "Delete account & data".
14. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of South Africa. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall be resolved in the courts of South Africa.
15. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes via an in-app notification. The date at the top of this page reflects the last update. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance.
